In New World: Aeternum, the faction system is very important. Every new player should try it out. You can level up quickly. There are also important resources. Additionally, there is special equipment and rewards for fighting against other players.

Joining a faction

From level 17, you can start the first quest of a faction. In the tavern in the city, the NPC gives the quest for the marauders. The purple faction is called Syndicate. The yellow faction is called Covenant. You get your tasks from other NPCs in the game. Faction quests are tasks. You often have to defeat monsters. You open boxes and collect certain things. Some candies only come after you try many times.
Note: If you join, you cannot switch to another faction for 60 days. So choose wisely!

Overview of the factions

In the game, there are three important factions:

Marauders (Green)

Goal: A country where freedom is important. In this country, power matters.

Style: Power and control—ideal for players who play against others.

Syndicate (Purple)

Goal: Explore forbidden knowledge and promote enlightenment.

Style: Cunning and planning—perfect for players who think strategically.

Covenant (Yellow)

Goal: To stop false teachings and spread the divine light.

Style: Religious zeal and collaboration—ideal for players who enjoy being part of a team.

Faction activities and progress

After joining, you can toggle the player-versus-player mode on or off with U. In player-versus-player mode, factions cannot be in the same faction together. You can only switch to a weaker faction. Your rank will be deleted. Your badges will also be reset. To get better, you need important tasks. Take PvP or PvE missions from factions in Hellheim or other outposts. If you teleport during a PvP mission, the mission has failed. Expeditions and tasks in open worlds are PvE missions. In the faction shop, you can buy things. You can get equipment, blueprints, seals, and tokens. For this, you use the faction tokens you have earned.

Faction Fortress

In every region, there are neutral castles. These castles are gray. If your faction has a castle, you receive global buffs, for example:

Everfall Fort: Bonus for luck (when searching for treasure chests)

Brimstone Sands Fort: Increase the yield for collectors.

You get their benefits as long as the fortress has your faction's color.

The faction chat and the battles

Each faction has its own chat room. There, they talk about attacks and defenses. After the conquest of a city like Everfall, it remains closed for an hour. Then you can attack it again. For successful conquests, there is PvP experience and good rewards. You get special equipment items in the player-versus-player mode as you advance in rank. You also receive rare chests with artifacts.
