One of the most attention-grabbing new features in EA FC 26 is the new Archetype System. This system enables your players not only to develop through typical attributes, but also specialize along distinct archetype paths. For each archetype, you unlock skill benefits as well as strategic options that are designed for your preferred style of play.

What Is the Archetype System?

You get to choose one archetype at game's beginning in Clubs and Career mode. There are 13 different archetypes, all drawn from mythic footballing positions. Archetypes evove on their own, requiring that you acquire Archetype XPs (AXPs) for playing matches under that archetype. Once you level an archetype (up to level 50 at first), you get: Assign Attribute Points (AP) that need to be allocated for dribbling, speed, or passing. Signature Playstyles, as well as Playstyle+ upgrades that may enhance your preferred playstyle. More Playstyle Slots and Unique Perks that further individualize your Character.

How to Unlock Archetypes

You start with a single unlocked archetype. Unlocking other characters requires Club Coins, FC Points, or Archetype Unlock Consumables. When progressing an archetype, you earn Archetype XP, or AXP, during a game, with your Role Rating, Match Type, and Gameplay Actions affecting this. - You must level each archetype on its own, since leveling different archetypes will delete your progress for that archetype.

Why Archetypes Matter?

Archetypes give your player a distinct feature. For example, a Magician will dribble, while a Boss will rather emphasize defense. Unlocking Playstyles and Perks enables you to tailor your capabilities (e.g. finishing, stamina, passes).  Shifts in strategy: it’s no longer a question of ‘better statistics,’ but of which way you turn. New characters, level increase, and customization options will roll out gradually.
