What is the Hideout System in Path of Exile 2?

In the game POE 2, the hideout is a personal main base, similar to the previous game POE 1, but improved. The hideout is a place where you can open maps, use crafting stations, and switch between town and endgame. When you have unlocked your hideout, you can find it via Waypoint or a command in the chat and use it as a base for mapping, crafting, and organizing.

I. Activation and Types of Hideouts

Method for unlocking

  • After you have completed the campaign and unlocked the Atlas (Atlas of World), you need to find a symbol for a hideout on the Atlas and enter that map. Defeat all the enemies, including the boss, and then take over the hideout.
  • On the atlas, you will see symbols for the hideouts. If you find one, select it, play the card, and open the hideout.
  • Visit more nodes to unlock additional hideouts. Some are free; others can be unlocked through microtransactions/supporter packs.
  • After you unlock it, you can reach a specific point at any time by either using a waypoint or entering the command "/hideout" in the chat.

Types of Hideouts

There are different types of hideouts in Path of Exile 2.

  • "Felled Hideout"—An area that has been reclaimed and destroyed
  • "Limestone Hideout"—An area that is clean, simple, and has a fast loading time.
  • "Shrine Hideout"—A hideout that looks like an ancient temple and exudes ancient beauty.
  • "Canal Hideout"—A canal with a lot of water.
  • There are extra paid hideouts, such as the "Dreadnought Hideout."

II. Functions and Setup of Hideouts

  • The hideout is not just for decoration but also for important gameplay activities.
  • In the hideout, you can use the map device to open maps and access the atlas.
  • Workbenches like the Salvage Bench and the Reforging Bench allow you to modify equipment in one place.
  • Invite non-player characters to your hideout to use crafting, missions, and services.
  • Stash/Guild Stash/Storage: Your hideout has all your stuff, like inventory for items, currencies, etc.
  • A waypoint or teleport point allows for quick transport between the capital city, stash, and trading areas.
  • You can design your hideout according to your wishes, for example with furniture, lighting, NPC placement, etc.

III. Practical Tips for Hideouts

Here are tips on how to make Hideouts nice and pretty:

  • Place important NPCs and masters near the waypoint or entrance to save time when mapping or trading.
  • Place the Map Device, Stash, and Teleport waypoint close together to work efficiently. Follow the order: Map → Stash → Teleport.
  • Use special items or distinctive ground to visually separate areas like crafting, storage, or trading zones.
  • Don't go through narrow corridors or past many obstacles. Rooms without obstacles make it easier to move around, especially when other players are searching for your hiding spot.
  • For hiding showcase content like trades or screenshots: Use lighting, appropriate props, and a special element (such as a water pool, open sky, or decoration cluster) for your presentation.
